                                                 Walnut Stuffed Apples

 

 

Ingredients

6 small gala apples, cored
⅓ c currants or raisins
⅓ c raw sugar
⅓ c walnut, whole pieces*
½ tsp mace
½ tsp allspice
½ tsp nutmeg
⅓ c raw apple cider

 

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a small mixing bowl combine sugar, mace, allspice, and nutmeg. Place cored apples in a glass baking dish at least ½ inch apart. In each cored apple add pecans, currants, and ½ tablespoon of spiced sugar mix. Pour apple cider in bottom of dish; do
not pour over the apples. Bake uncovered or loosely cover baking dish with foil. Place in oven for 30 - 35 minutes until tender. Remove from oven and let set for 5 - 7 minutes and serve.

 

*Pecans can be substituted for walnuts
